BEAUTY RAVE: My MAC Eye Shadow Collection

Recently, I went on a huge de-potting spree on all of my MAC eye shadows.  I had way too many and could not justify lugging around all of those individual shadows, especially with my trip to Paris coming up soon.  I'm going to be studying there for about four months, so I feel like I will want to have all of my make up with me.  It seemed more convenient to put all of my shadows into palettes, so they would be much easier to travel with.  I thought this would also be the perfect time to do a MAC eye shadow collection since all of my eye shadows will be in one place, making them easier to photograph and swatch.

Obviously, I am a huge fan of neutral eye shadows.  I basically only use neutral shadows with any eye shadow look.  I usually leave the color for my cheeks or my lips.  I do occasionally like to do a bright liner on my lower lash line, but it's pretty rare.  The first palette is my most used palette.  The second palette definitely does not get as much love as the first one does.  However, I've found that now that I have my shadows organized in palette form, I tend to use my shadows more, especially shades I may have previously overlooked.

My favorite shadows from my collection are probably: Arena, Woodwinked, Tempting, Bronze, Brown Down, and Mystery.  I use Mystery every day for my eyebrows, so it's definitely my most used color.  For an every day look, I will only use Arena on my lids with some eye liner.  If I am going for a real eye shadow look, I typically go for Bronze or Brown Down in the crease with something like Arena or Woodwinked on the lid.

RETAIL THERAPY: A Couple of MAC Goodies

Where I go to school, we don't have a MAC store or counter nearby.  This breaks my heart every day.  Thankfully, MAC has an online store that has become my only link to my longtime obsession.  I recently got an email that MAC was having a free two day shipping offer and I jumped at the opportunity to pick up a couple of things I've been lusting after for a while.  I received them yesterday and immediately took photos for a blog post while they were still fresh and clean in their packaging.

MAC Paint Pot in 'Bare Study'

This Paint Pot in 'Bare Study' has been a favorite among beauty gurus for a while.  I've seen countless swatches online and make up looks using it and decided that it was something that I needed for my collection. I already love the MAC Paint Pots but I only have 'Soft Ochre', so I wanted one that I could use for more than just an eye shadow base.  What I've heard about this Paint Pot is that it's a really great product to just swipe on the eyes and go.  It's a beautiful, peachy, champagne shade that adds a really subtle sheen to the eye.

MAC Lipstick in 'Kinda Sexy'

I'm typically very picky about lipsticks, especially neutral shades.  I have a really hard time finding a neutral, every day shade since most are too light, too nude, or to pink.  I have pretty pigmented lips so most nude shades look really weird on me.  I've found some good neutral lip shades like MAC 'Shy Girl' and NARS 'Barbarella', but I wanted something a little bit more dusty rather than peachy.  I recently saw some beauty gurus rave about 'Kinda Sexy' and after looking at some more swatches online, I decided to give it a try.  I purchased this thinking I'd most likely return it, since I'm so picky.  But as soon as I swiped it on my lips, I fell in love.  It's a matte lipstick, but surprisingly, it isn't drying.  It's a neutral, dusty rose shade that is basically a "my-lips-but-better" kind of shade.  It's a good change of pace from my usual peachy, coral lip.  I wore this in my most recent 'Outfit & Face of the Day' post.
